Hello to you all.

Hopefully at the start of a better New Year for us all, a few updates to keep you in touch with what is happening at the club.

As you all know the club is shut yet again at the moment as we all struggle to beat this uncompromising virus. But we are trying to make sure we are in contact with everyone involved with OCRFC, either by regular emails, on WhatsApp groups or other social media sites and of course just a plain old fashioned phone call. Please make every effort to chat to other members letting us know of anyone who is having any issues you never know who at the club might be able to help.

It’s good to see the seniors arranging a couple of virtual sessions each week, juniors Zoom fitness training on a Sunday thanks to Vicky and Tom and the Minis starting to have an on line session each Sunday. One concern is how we keep the contact with anyone on the fringe of these activities, so we are looking at something similar to the virtual race night that was run before or a quiz night, etc.

Also great to hear that we have had over 20 coaches/players sign up to the latest England Coaching sessions plus our own focus groups well done to Alan Bateson and Ben Hutchings for the initiative.

I have heard from a past member called Ronnie Barclay he played for the club about 40 years ago for a couple of seasons and is now back in Northern Ireland. He was a teacher at the Northbrook school and also coached some of the teams at Colfes school, he would be pleased to hear from anyone who remembers him I have his phone number and email.

One piece of sad news Bob (Robert) Lloyd passed away on 23rd December a member for many years who attended the Saturday lunches and 1st XV games, many of the older members will remember him. I have been in touch with his wife and family and have details of a memorial service that will be shown live via a Webinar link on 21st January which can also be viewed afterwards, please contact me if you would like the details. Spare a thought for the family at 2.00pm on the 21st which would have been his 80th birthday.

Thank you on behalf of the club for your support it really is appreciated.

Regards

Dave
