18s Victorious in first Home Game of the season

empty

A bitter sweet victory for the 18s today saw them see off a spirited Gravesend RFC team, but sadly a nasty injury soured the outcome. On a day only ducks can love, OCs were switched on after a cracking midweek training session. We were after a big performance today, and that’s exactly what was delivered.

Early possession for OCs finally led to an opening try for UJ, followed by a brace by Louis – the 2nd from all of 50m!! 17-0 at HT.

The second half was unfortunately blighted by a horrible injury to Nick – we wish him a speedy recovery. Up until that point, Nick was putting his hand up for the MOTM Lion…a real shame. At least he enjoyed the morphine.

As we moved pitches to accomodate the injury, the intensity also seemed to increase. Jesuuuus looked like a man possessed and huge hits from Sam and Henry were becoming the norm. The scoreboard continued to tick over, but in fairness to Gravesend, a very well earned and well worked try finalised proceedings, a reward that was just for their efforts. Final score 31-5 to OCs.

It really was a day for the purists. Thank you for the support. Next week sees us take on Hitchin RFC in the club’s first eveNational Cup game – all support welcome!! 12:30pm KO at home.
