Centaurs vs Aylesford Bulls. Our run of fixtures against Group 1 opposition continued with a return clash against Aylesford Bulls. The last meeting was a tough lesson, a 55–7 defeat that stayed with the squad and shaped our training focus over the past few weeks. Today was the chance to show how far we’ve come.
From the very first whistle, the U15 Centaurs were on the front foot. High tempo, sharp handling and real intent saw us cross for the opening try inside three minutes. That set the tone. Our kick-offs were more competitive, lineouts cleaner, and the scrum far more controlled than in the previous encounter. Rucking was on point and the backline on fire. Two superb rolling mauls powered over for well‑earned scores, and the backs added their own flourish with some confident running rugby. By half-time we’d built an impressive 35–5 lead. Helped by a prefect kicking display off the tee.
The second half, played in hot conditions, was a different kind of test. Aylesford fought back with a couple of tries, and injuries in our back line forced one of the forwards to step out wide. Even so, our defensive organisation and determination held firm. The boys dug in, stayed connected, and closed out a deserved 35–15 victory. A brilliant way to round off our U15s XV‑a‑side journey. The effort, growth and resilience on display were outstanding. Looked like the boys were solar powered today. So proud of this group. 7s season and tour to come.
U14 Boys
We sadly came up just short against Sidcup away in our last Kent League fixture today, 19-15 😢 It was a good effort but the boys struggled to get out of 2nd gear (I think largely down to many being away on a school trip during the week 💤). We deffo left some out there and there were plenty of disappointed lads, but we dust ourselves down, learn, and move forwards 👍🏻👍🏻
U12 Girls
Our combined team played against Beckenham RFC 12 – 12 BCW SABRES A fiercely contested encounter saw honours shared as both sides battled to a hard-earned draw in a match defined by physicality, resilience, and defensive grit.
From the opening whistle, Beckenham RFC came out with intent, applying early pressure and testing the defensive structure. Their efforts paid off with the first score of the game, capitalising on sustained possession to cross the line and take an early lead. However, the response was immediate and composed. Strong carries and improved territory allowed momentum to swing, with patient phase play eventually creating space out wide for a well-worked try to level the scores. The contest remained evenly balanced throughout the first half, with both teams exchanging territory but unable to fully break each other down. A second score ensured the sides went into halftime locked together.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with neither team willing to give an inch. Big tackles and disciplined defensive sets became the hallmark of the game, as attacking opportunities were hard to come by. Beckenham edged ahead midway through the half with another well-taken try, but once again the response showed character, grinding through phases before finishing clinically to bring the score back to 12–12. The final stages were tense, with both sides pushing for a निर्णтив score, but resolute defending and a few handling errors under pressure meant neither could find the breakthrough. In the end, a draw was a fair reflection of a closely fought contest. The result highlighted determination and teamwork, with plenty to build on heading into the next fixture.
U14 Girls
We were given a warm welcome at East London RFC where our game preceded a 1st XV game for the International Women’s Day / Chairperson’s Lunch.
The final score, which included a try from our Harriet Lark, doesn’t reflect the quality of the opposition who, despite it being their first ever match, gave our girls a good game right to the end, making them work for the 0-45 win.
We were delighted to see the 1st XV teams and lunch guests come out to watch our match with such enthusiasm
We look forward to hosting them at Horn Park soon.
Sunday 8th March
U18 girls
The Cobra girls (under 18s) travelled to TJs for the quarter finals of the Kent Cup. In super muddy conditions TJs took an early lead but the girls worked hard to get back into the game with some excellent work at turning over possession and keeping the ball alive to take a deserved 17-12 half time lead.
Continuing to work incredibly hard in defence and showing great skill in attack, the girls extended their lead in the second half to run out deserved 34-22 winners. On to the semis!
U16 Boys

Down 7-14 at half time away to Bromley the Under 16 boys in their last Kent game fought back strongly to 14-14 before losing in the final minutes to a heart breaking penalty.
Fought valiantly – ran out of steam to win .. After the match the referee complimented OC players on their discipline and on their clear communications. First try for Harry Jackson 👏 Final score 17-14
U14 Boys
We had a mixed friendly against Tunbridge Wells. Great chance to field all our 30 lads, one of which was playing his first ever game along with two or three others who have only started this season. TWs were too strong for us on the whole although it was evens in the last third with our more experienced lads laying 👍🏻👍🏻
U13 Boys
s played Sidcup away. It was a frustrating match. Sidcup had one player who was almost an adult in size and physique, together with 3 or 4 other massive players and so we conceded 6 tries without reply by the middle of the second half (it was as superb defensive effort to hold them to this).
The match was called as per RFU rules. We then agreed to play on and we won the unofficial match by 4 tries to 1. I think the players were just intimidated by the size of the opposition and when the pressure was off they played their game.
U12 Boys
U12’s away to OA’s, won 30-0
Sunday 1st March
U15 Boys
Our continued programme of friendlies against Kent Group 1 opposition was with a home fixture against Canterbury.
After a cagey and evenly contested opening, OCs began to assert control, building sustained pressure and going into the break 12–7 ahead.
The second half opened up considerably, allowing for a much-improved collective performance. OCs started to stretch the game, although Canterbury remained within reach thanks to a couple of penalty tries. Stronger ball carrying, improved cohesion, and greater clinical edge in the final third ultimately proved decisive, with OCs pulling away to secure a well-earned 36–24 victory.
Very proud of the boys – Fixing challenges on the pitch as they went. A great team effor.
Sunday 22nd February
U15 Boys
We continued our campaign against group 1 Kent teams away at Sevenoaks. The boys battled hard in every facet of the game with some impressive rucking, a resolute scrum and exceptional handling in the slippery conditions.
It was attritional at times but in the end Sevenoaks went in to half time with a one score less. We chased hard in the second half but ran out of time while pressing their line to chase them down. Final score Sevenoaks 25- OCs 17. More lessons learnt and another chance to take on a group 1 side next week home to Canterbury.
Very proud of the problem solving on the pitch and the heart to fight to the final whistle.

U12 Girls
Report for our U12G Sabres cluster match this morning. Sabres u12s girls v Gravesham Gladiators Another squelchy underfoot affair didn’t disrupt a rampant Sabres team who although soaked during the warm up from yet another rain cloud, put on a great handling spectacle. Gravesham were leant 4-5 of our players throughout and in the spirit of rugby all the girls that played for the ‘opposition’ did so gallantly and with full commitment. In fact it was a Sabre who scored the first try but for the opposition, with Eleanor scoring her very first try in the process winning a McDonald’s bribery from Dad! (Are we sure this counts ?😜) 0-5 not the start we had hoped for but early signs of good defence in the lead up to the opposition turning us over and scoring. Gravesham then scored their second after our knock on. From the restart the girls showed some great handling after a strong run from Hettie that saw Olivia score our first and it was Olivia who from a great counter ruck forced a turnover that Yasmin seized hold of and scored an easy run in for our second to finish the quarter 10-10.
In the second quarter the girls had their tails up and right from the kick off Olivia grabbed the ball out of the air and ran through the entire team to score her second. Olivia was again influential in ripping the ball from the opposition to set up Yasmin who scored her second and followed it up with her third when Ali tackled their player who spilt the ball and Yasmin snatched it and ran in untouched from 5 metres out to make it 25-10. I have it on good authority that the ref (Al) had a quiet word with our next scorer about not slowing down when about to be tackled….well it worked…Anastasia who with good support to another Olivia run charged at the defence and having broken through, ran clean to the try line!! Olivia then got her hat trick try following a good run by Ali. Half time 35-10.
Gravesham (with Sabres) then came back after the break scoring 5 tries without reply, Yasmin and Ali scoring 1 a piece for the opposition. This was despite some valiant tackling efforts from the girls that was much improved this week, special mention for Jocelyn and Akhira for their tackling. With the scores level at 35-35 we were awarded a free kick and ended the half with a crash ball to Hettie to score from 5 metres out.
Final quarter We started well with Erin dropping on a loose ball like we have been practicing and from this Yasmin ran in her 4th sabres (5th overall) try. Olivia then added to her tally before Ali, who ran on as a sub for Gravesham, scored against us before running straight back off! 50-40. Olivia then plucked another try out from the kick off fending with both hands and staying strong in the tackle to score again before Yasmin with her trade mark sniping from the ruck scored the final try of the game leaving us winning 60-40.

Photo of U12G BCW Sabres which includes OCs, and their opposition Gravesham Gladiators on Sunday 22 Feb.
There were some great positives in the game with the tackling efforts much improved and Aarya celebrating her first match tackle! The work on in this game was to move the ball away from contact. The girls showed they could do this and generated some great tries by passing it along the line and looking for a player in space before they are tackled. Well done to Yasmin (opposition players player) and Molly (opposition coaches player) for their recognition. 🏉
Sunday 1st February
Colts
We had a last warm up game before our final Kent game in two weeks. Despite having only 14 players (13 at times) and Tunbridge Wells sticking to playing 15 players it was a close 12-15 score line. Served it’s purpose and let Tunbridge Wells notch a win for a change. 😊
U16 Boys

A great Kent game for the U16s at Westcombe Park winning 14-0. Boys played a great defensive game and took their chance to shine… Nice curry after the match! Good luck to all the washing machines!

U14 Boys
We had a development friendly against Dash RFC (Deal/Ash combined) – who were a lovely bunch. The score of 7-34 doesn’t reflect the commitment from our boys and we certainly deserved another score. We played all our development players and it was brilliant to see them step up, very proud 👍🏻
U14 Girls
We are in the Kent Waterfall final having knocked Bromley out in the semis today, 22-10
Waiting to hear who we’ll be facing, but the finals will be played at… …Bromley 💅🏼😏
Sunday 18th January
U13 Boys
We had Aylesford for our Kent match. First half we were just holding on at 10-5 down and it wasn’t looking good, with our only visit to their half being the try we scored in a breakaway.
The boys came out like a different team in the second half and we won 40-10, the match being called slightly early as we had got 6 tries ahead.
I should also add that the Aylesford team and their coaches were a great bunch and really friendly.

U12 Boys
An away trip to Sheppy in the revised league, we had to loan them a few players so we could have a game, we won 0-40 after 10 minutes, but played the full 40 minutes and swapped players between teams and finished with them having 10 players v our 8.
U15 Boys
We had a friendly against Medway this morning. We had to two teams battling toe to toe throughout, with defences on both sides working overtime. It was not always pretty but was ultra competitive throughout.
10 each at half time it finished 15-15 in the end. Both sides will definitely know they have been in a game tomorrow.
U16 Boys
We hosted Medway for a Kent match- an equally matched game that Medway snatched away from us in final minutes… 24 v 29

Sunday 11th January
Colts
Another brilliant Division 1 win for the Colts v Sevenoaks, 22-14.
Two evenly matched sides with some really intelligent play and an immense scrum making the difference.
The giant killing continues. 💪🔥
U15 Boys
We played their final Kent match of the campaign today away at Bromley.
We started the game brightly scoring within the first 2 minutes and then a strong Bromley outfit took control of the ball. 22-7 at half time. The boys worked hard to fix things in the second half and we made them work for it. But injuries began to pile up- final score of 42-14 to Bromley, did not reflect how hard we battled. Proud of the boys.
Onwards and upwards to a wider range of Kent teams for the rest of the season.
U14 Boys
A hard fought game vs Tonbridge Juddians in their latest Kent League match but in the end a winning 19-10 score.
We’re in to Group 4 (of 9) now and remain unbeaten.
Two more games to go before we arrange a host of friendlies. In to season end. Onwards and upwards! 💪
Sunday 14th December
U18 Girls
Great result for the under 18 girls today against Tonbridge Judians. An exhausting end to end game as injuries saw the game reduced in numbers, the girls got off to a flying start with two tries in the first five minutes and kept responding with another score every time the opposition narrowed the deficit. Seven tries in total led to a final score of 43-30. A fabulous performance and a great win.
U12 Girls
We also played Tonbridge Judianss in a friendly away in Tonbridge. Our cluster team Sabres won 7-2, passing and supporting well, following a joint warm up / training session. TJs gave us a warm welcome although their pitches were very muddy.
U13 Boys
A friendly fixture against Gravesend giving our new and development boys a start and playing some of the other players in new positions. It was a good run out with some great ball handling and tackling from our boys which meant we just edged the win.
U15 Boys
A rare Horn Park outing for the under 15s and a tough match. Despite coming from behind twice we missed an opportunity to sneak a win at the death, losing 24-19 to a well organised Tunbridge Wells outfit.
Colts
This week a friendly v Old Elthamians. We played a lot of the boys out of position and dropped to 14 but were still far too strong for them. Splendid refereeing by Noel Kilby who saved the game by stepping in to help.
Sunday 7th December
U15 Boys
A very tough outing for the under 15s at Gravesend in a friendly. A much changed side just snuck a real arm wrestle 26 -25.
U14 Girls
We had an excellent win today against 7Wells (Tunbridge Wells and Sevenoaks). After a couple of tough waterfall games where defence was the order of the day, they ran riot this morning and crossed for eight tries in a 48-7 win.
U12 Girls
Our U12 Crimsons in our cluster with Westcombe Park and Beccs, ti form the Sabres U12s. Today we played against Dartford Valley. We had a great game v DV, the players were all smiling at the end, we played well and are developing from week to week. Incidentally, we lost by a few points.
Sunday 23rd November
U14 Boys
We had a home development game against Old Alleynians.
Both sides played really well and it was great to see some of our new joiners get there first run out. No one was quite sure of the final score but it was definitely an OC’s win, and Mary’s post match burgers were well deserved by all the players (and a few lucky coaches!)
U18 Girls
The girls put on a good performance against a strong combined Aylesford and Sevenoaks side.
They fought hard with their work at the breakdown particularly impressive. Ultimately though our opponents powerful running paid dividends and we lost 44-19 but a very encouraging showing nonetheless.
U13 Boys
We had a friendly match against Blackheath. We ran it as a development match evolving then into a full A team match for the final period so was great to give all the squad a run out and also try players in different positions. Everyone played well and we won each of the periods.
Sunday 16th November
U18 Girls
Two of our girls in action on Sunday for Kent, Bibi and Connie both scored tries in a 27-12 win over Essex.

U14 Girls
With one of our players making her debut, the U14 Girls dug deep in today’s Waterfall fixture against two-time tournament champions Tonbridge Juddians. Showing solid defensive organisation and phenomenal tackling throughout, the girls lifted their performance in the second half and can be rightly proud of the final 0–7 score line.
U12 Girls
The girls won three out of three at the Kent waterfall today. Beating Dartfordians (40-20), Old Alleynians (30-15 from 15-0 down) and Gravesend (40-10). A great display of grit, determination and passion.
U16 Boys
The boys won their Kent match against Whitstable today… we were behind for the whole match and they left it to the last five minutes to turn it into a win 24 v 20 … spectators were exhausted! Huge compliments for the after match food of Thai red or green curry!
U14 Boys
The U14s go marching on… 3/3 in Kent League. Today seeing off Sevenoaks 24-5 on their own turf(clay). Great performance from the lads – this group is growing, not just physically 👍🏻

Sunday 9th November
U15 Boys
We played a well organised and sizeable Westcombe Park side in the third of our five Kent Competition games this season. The first half was very competitive but our boys worked well as a team to establish a half time lead and we stretched away in final quarter. Another bonus point win 43-15 final score.
U13s Boys
Away at Dartfordians for our Kent match. The whole team put in a great effort and secured a convincing 40-0 win. We scored one try in the first half and then 7 in the second half!

U18 Girls
Our girls haven’t yet learned how to play the first half but for the second game running we scored five second half tries to bring us in touching distance of an unexpected victory. Sadly it wasn’t to be and some late breakaway tries saw Ashford take a 48-25 win. Great effort from the girls again.
Sunday 2nd November
U15 Boys
Centaurs played a friendly against a resilient Sidcup side. We used the opportunity to try some new combinations and people in new positions.
The boys worked hard problem solving as they went – a competitive game throughout we stretched away in the final quarter to finish Colfe’s 39 -Sidcup 17.
Sunday 19th October
U15 Boys
Today we travelled to Kent Group 1 team Canterbury for a friendly. After a good hard battle where attack won out over defence , Canterbury nicked a draw with the last play of the game. 62-62. Scoreboard almost got as much exercise as the players. Shows we can mix it with anyone.
U14 Boys
We had a tough start at home in their 2nd Kent game, going into half time 14-0 down. But after a strong talk from the coaches, and a bit of a head wobble, they came back fighting! The second half was theirs with 4 tries and 2 conversions, and a final winning score of 24-14.

All the other age groups both boys and girls had a training session this week.
Sunday 12th October
Under 18 Girls
We had a tough game against Beccs Valley. Although the first half got away from us a tremendous second half effort saw us run in five tries to give a final score of 27-57.
U14 Girls
Won 53-10 against Bromley.
U12 Girls
Lost by a few to Bromley. After some good play from both teams the final score was 40-20
U16 Boys
First Kent game of the season against Maidstone. A frustrating loss 14-20 as we had led most of the game. Lots to discuss and improve.. 💪Onwards

U15 Boys
Best performance so far this season in a Kent match: Beckenham 5 OC’s 52. Amazing team effort.

U14 Boys
We won a friendly fixture vs Beckenham. Was a great chance to give our squad players a proper run out 👍🏻
U13 Boys
We lost 20 – 15 at home to Aylesford. It was a close game and a well fought battle.
