Crimsons U18s vs Aylesford Bulls

empty

This Sunday the U18s welcomed Aylesford Bulls to Horn Park. We started off playing 12-a-side on the 1st XV pitch which was a tough ask for the girls but one which both teams rose to. It must be said though that it probably suited Aylesford’s pacey winger best, as her five tries would prove!

Our line-speed in defence and depth in attack, was non-existent at times – definitely something to work on next week. Despite this though, the Crimsons’ tackling was very impressive. Strong running from the Bulls’ forwards began to take its toll and resulted in a handful of tries to the opposition in the first half.

At half time, we sat down and laid out some targets for the second half. It’s important to remember that our girls are almost all Y11’s and so coming up against a predominantly older team will always provide challenges and show the importance of experience.

I’m proud to say that there was a real change of attitude in the second half. The girls didn’t let their heads drop and Chelsea scored a great try early on!

At the end of the day the final score-line (66-7) probably wasn’t as reflective of the game as it could have been. The Crimsons’ defended well for long periods of the match, but ultimately conceded a lot of tries to the bigger and more experienced Aylesford side – deserved winners on the day.
