Crimsons U15s deliver a strong victory against Tunbridge Wells

empty

On Sunday 20th January we welcomed the Tunbridge Wells Girls to Horn Park to compete in the U15 Kent Cup.

Off the back of a great training session last week, the girls were raring to go and our big squad meant that we were able to play with four subs and get everyone plenty of game time.

Playing on a full-size pitch meant there was plenty of space and opportunity to get the ball into the hands of our speedy backs. This game plan was clearly working and we found ourselves up by several scores at half time. Conversions on the wider pitch were proving difficult but we still managed to nudge five over – there was also a magnetic attraction from the ball to the posts/crossbar on four occasions!

Special shoutouts to new recruit Gift, who was proving difficult to stop in the centres and Ellen who lead from the front all day and managed four tries as well as successful lineouts and mazy runs.

Overall though, it was a great team performance summed up by the final score in which I think every single player touched the ball and scored through amazing continuity, offloading and the ability to ‘play to space’.

To Wells’ credit, it wasn’t all one way traffic and the girls conceded the tries so there’s definitely room for improvement from a defensive standpoint for the Crimsons.

The final score was Old Colfeians 95, Tunbridge Wells 15. Try scorers on the day included Lara, Ellen, Gift, Glory, Natalie, Iona and Marianna.
