A tight match for Crimsons U15s vs Medway

empty

This Sunday we travelled away to Medway to take on a well drilled side. With only 10 of our girls available, they kindly leant us a few players in each half so that we could play a full 15 a side game.

Within the first few minutes, and a couple of phases, the hosts had scored a try with a line break from just past the half way that we were unable to chase back.  Only a few more minutes had passed, when a big collision left one of their players down and injured leaving us to head up to the top pitch.

We started off much better on the new pitch, and soon Natalie brushed off a number of players and ran in a try which she then converted. We looked to be the stronger team with some big carries from Ellen, Lara and Marianna which finally led to a score for Lara.

But within quick succession, Medway then scored 2 tries, one straight from the kick off, and even with Lara’s great chase back we were unable to keep them out making the score 22-14

We had a long passage of play where we worked our way up the pitch, and came close to scoring on a number of occasions, but the last pass would go forward, or a lack of numbers at the breakdown saw us getting turned over.

We finally managed to put together some brilliant play across the whole team, and a scrum in final play where Natalie picked and went led to a try which was also converted and left us just 1 point short with the score being 22-21 at the final whistle.

A tough match, and one that I’m sure we will take lots from as we look ahead to next week’s match against Aylesford.
