Crimsons U11s have a great time at the St Georges’ Day Girls Festival

The St Georges Day festival last Saturday was the final outing of the year for the U11s Crimsons, a team comprising girls currently playing in the Old Colfeians U11s and U10s mixed minis teams.

The Festival was held at Wasps FC, the home of Wasps Womens’ Rugby. Despite the windy and cold conditions, the Crimsons shone when the sun didn’t! In the morning skills development sessions run by Middlesex RFU coaches, their firm implementation of the techniques and skills of rugby thoughout the session clearly showing. The players benefitted from the coaches input, as did the coaches, who enjoyed some open discussions with the girls about the finer points of rucking!

After lunch, the competitive side of the festival took over, and our girls mixed in with other clubs to form four teams, but they were still noticable throughout the matches for their committment, effort and strong technique. They really enjoyed playing girls-only rugby and the future of the Crimsons looks assured with such a strong crop of younger players coming through.

Well done to Frances, Bethany, Mia P, Tess, Mia M, Chanel, Emily O, Emily B, Grace and Emer. And thanks to Ben Fleckney for refereeing, Lisa for first aiding, Helen for organising and Paul for helping with coaching. Plus all the parents who brought the girls along and braved the weather.
