OC’s Skills camp hits the ground running!April 11, 2019
OC’s very own Skills camp hits the ground running with an amazing turn out of approx. 100 players all enjoying an exciting mix of skills zones, fast pace drills and innovative game play. The Bowling green even saw some action as it transformed into the tyre flipping weights arena!. The wonderful array of expertise from Lynn, Peter, Dan and Larry was lapped up by kids and coaches alike and the second day brings the added skills of both Vicki and Sophia and one of our current 1XV team players Tom.
Day 2 – the female mentors arrive and put the kids through their paces!
Above, Vicki shares her tackling tips (whilst recovering from shoulder surgery!)
…and below Sophia introduces the players the benefits of correct breathing, posture/ body position and core strength which they can transfer to the rugby field by introducing them to ‘The Dead Lift’ lifting 40 KGs (luckily not Sophia’s lifting weight of 195 kg’s!!)
Many thanks to Ben Hutchings for some amazing planning and vision in setting up the event which, by the look of the satisfied faces going home and the number of parents reporting their kids sleeping like logs has been a triumph!
