Weekend update

The 1st XV returned to winning ways this weekend with a committed performance at home against Chichester. Some excellent pushing from the forwards set the platform for the win but the whole team performed well to finally silence the junior club "banter" of the visiting team.

The thirds came away with a solid 24-19 win at Old Alleyians whilst the Vets are still searching for that elusive first win of 2010. A hard fought battle against a much younger Beccs side on an unfamiliar larger pitch produced another defeat. Rupert commented: "What a great performance from the 1stXV against Chichester on Saturday. All the good that I have heard about Colfeians was more than evident as every player on show gave 100% commitment and showed a real will to win, against an opponent who I believe are one the strongest in the league when allowed to play. The man of the match went to Sam Wallis on his full debut, but we could have picked from at least another dozen players. The front row deserve a mention, with one of the most dominant displays you will ever want to see, ably supported by the rest of the pack. Terry bossed from 9 and the backs hit some great lines and gave us some real go forward whenever we took the ball away from the pack. We are on the road to Chobham on Saturday and we need to take this weeks performance and build on it for the final part of the season. This week we have a nice selection problem, with some of the returning players due back."
