Weekend summary

On a wet and windy afternoon at Horn Park the 1sts produced a controlled performace to see off Beckenham 21-0.

Meanwhile on the top pitch the Stiffs failed to adapt to the conditions until the last 10 minutes and went down 15-20 to decent Dover team (not helped by Towner and Aussie Tim whose float duties at the Lord Mayor's show meant they turned up 25 minutes into the game!). The Thirds lost 41-5 away at Westcombe Park. They played well when they wanted, dominated in the scrum, had loads of possession in the forwards - but could not convert this into points. There were only winners later in the evening as the 12th Music Night proved to be another roaring success of organisation, girls getting dressed up to come to a rugby club, big men sweating and recognition clapping! The Junior Colfes had a great weekend. The four junior teams (U13-16) played in a local derby against Old Elthamians this weekend and won every game!" Rupert commented: "The 1stXV gave undoubtedly their best performance so far this season, beating Beckenham 21-0. Absolutely delighted with not just the obvious effort but also the quality of some of our play despite the horrendous conditions. Fair to say the place to be was on the sidelines at Horn Park rather than in front of the TV watching England! Next weekend we face Beckenham again, this time in the Kent Cup on Sunday @ home, 2pm kick off. We'll be looking to use this game to have a look at a few of the guys who are currently on the fringes of the side, but will still be putting out a strong side which will include a a number of 1stXV regulars. So please make sure to make yourself available this week no matter what side you normally play in. Please remember, if you are not available you will be opening a door to someone else to claim their shirt in the side."
