Weekend update

After the disruption of the first two weeks both 1st and 2nds registered their first wins of the season on Saturday as the club fielded 4 teams all with subs!

The 1sts beat early season league leaders Old Elthamians 26-21 thanks to 21 points from Pooley's boot and with new boy Andrew Rennison having an assured debut at 10 behind a dominant pack (after Chapman was taken out by a sniper in the first minute). The Super Stiffs beat the same opponents by 46-15 with Werner and Herman inflicting most of the damage from the centre with 7 tries between them! The 3rds lost 19-45 against Charlton Park 2nds despite strong performances from Pete Anson and Mark Connacher in a game that was closer than the score line suggests. The Vets beat Blackheath convincingly 31-0. Full match reports will follow on the team pages later in the week. Another 4 games this coming weekend with the 1sts facing a tricky trip to Dover. Message from Rupert: "Great win for both the 1's and 2's at home last Saturday. The 1's showed at last what they are all about with a really committed performance against OE's. The Man of the match awards could easily have gone to any one of the 18 players who took the field (even Ollie looked good in the warm up before the sniper got to him) but eventually went to Pooley at 9 and Andrew on his debut. Great to see a strong 2nd team line-up also deliver, so selection this week will be particularly tough."
