Latest Jack Petchey Awards

Please see below for the latest Jack Petchey Awards for the summer period.

James Carmichael receives the Jack Petchey Award for July 2008

July 2008 - James Carmichael U16s

James has been with Old Colfeians since the inception of mini / midi rugby at the club, always turning out for training, matches or fitness sessions. He currently plays 11 or 12 for the under 16s Youth Squad but is adept and willing to play scrum–half when the situation demands. He is an excellent decision maker in attack with a choice of deft moves and kicks. In defence James is a text book tackler. His versatility is clearly shown and he contributes at every level, often taking charge of the warm-up and dynamic exercises, and adding his own strategic initiatives. Presented 14th September 2008 by Keith Roffo, Manager and Coach U16s, and John Nunn, President Old Colfeians’ RFC
Tom Chapman receives the Jack Petchey Award for August 2008

August 2008 - Tom Chapman u15's Cougars

CITATION: Tom is a player of great skill and tactical awareness but the additional factor that would make him a worthy recipient of an award is his wholesale commitment to The Cougars and their development. This manifests itself in numerous ways including: 1. His continual efforts, both during and outside the regular season, to drive the squad to be ahead of the competition. 2. His constant ideas as to the shape of the squad and the playing tactics and strategies to be adopted. 3. His personal effort to recruit new players to the squad. 4. On a personal level his tireless commitment this summer to following an exacting fitness programme. Presented on 14th September 2008 by Andy Whittaker, Manager U15s, and John Nunn, President of Old Colfeians’ RFC
Oliver Vij receives the Jack Petchey Award for September 2008

September 2008 - Oliver Vij

Oliver has been with the squad for the last 4 seasons. He is a quiet and slight built boy, however, when he is on the field his actions speak very loudly. Despite his size Ollie will tackle anyone and on most occasions he will “nail” his man, only to get up and repeat it on the next attacker. He listens well when training and very rarely needs any new technique explaining twice. It is because of his unassuming and modest nature that quite often his contribution can go uncommented upon; however; his reliability and tenacity make him a giant in our team. SH Presented on 14th September 2008 by John Gallagher, coach to the U12s team and George Troke, President of the Young Colfeians’ RFC.
