WARREN EVANS

I am sure that virtually everyone in the club is now aware of the very serious injury sustained by Warren Evans in the recent match at Beckenham. Warren is being treated in the specialist stroke unit at Kings College Hospital, Camberwell, and will be unable to work for a considerable period.

The club has set up a fund to help provide Warren and his family – he has a young child – with financial support until he is able to return to work. We will be donating part of the proceeds of all our forthcoming social events to the fund. Warren joined the OCs straight from school, and immediately made his presence felt in the 1st team. He was our front-line warrior, with a confrontational style of back-row play. As we progressed into London Division 1, and then National Division 3, he was never injured, nor ever failed to play to his utmost ability. And it was no coincidence that, as his powers waned, the OCs’ fortunes also declined. Such has been his enormous influence. Warren has inspired players and spectators for over twenty years. We now have a chance to repay some of the pleasure he has given us. Contributions to the fund can be made by cheque, payable to “Old Colfeians RFC re Warren Evans” and handed to Trevor Hubner, George Troke, Clive Corlett or myself; or can be sent to: Clive Corlett 1 Lasseter Place London SE3 7UX. Alternatively, donations can be made by electronic transfer. Please contact the club via the Contact Us page for details.
