OCRFC Development and Action Plans

As a result of the boardstorming session that took place last February, the plans for the future of the club are now ready to be shared.

A lot of important thoughts and proposals emerged from that session, which the Committee have carefully discussed and consulted further about. The outcome is an agreed view, within the Committee, about how the club should be moving forward over the coming months and years. This view of our future, and what we need to do about it, is set out in the two documents which I attach. The first document is the Development Plan. This represents a high-level expression of the clubs ethos and where we would like to get to over the next five years. It identifies eight key challenges that we have to face, if we are to achieve those goals. This document is a long-term statement of intent, which is expected to remain broadly constant over that period, and is likely to be reviewed only annually. The second document is an Action Plan. This is much shorter-term. It picks up the eight challenges and identifies a number of actions, under each heading, which need to be implemented if we are to achieve our objectives. Most of the responsibility for carrying through those actions lie with the four new Sub-committees that have been set up to oversee progress in specific areas - playing (Andy Smith), recruitment and development (Bill Griffiths), fundraising (Nigel Glaister) and operations (Dave Hodgkiss). Responsibility for deciding the content of the Action Plan, and ensuring that progress is maintained in all areas, lies with the new, streamlined Management Committee (which Dick Hussey chairs). The Action Plan will be reviewed and revised monthly by the Management Committee. The present version, attached here, is how things stood at the beginning of September. Over time, items will drop off, having been accomplished, and new items will appear. One of the ways that the Management Committee will monitor progress is through the status column against each item, using a traffic-light system, where green represents progress according to plan, amber suggests some concern or questions about progress, and red indicates serious issues or concerns about whether the objective is going to be achieved on time. The Committee hope that you will find the two documents of interest. Many of you are already much involved in aspects of the Action Plan, but you might like to see how the whole process fits together. Both documents, including the monthly updated Action Plan are available below, and will also be displayed on the club notice board. Development Plan September Action Plan
